WHEEL CHATTER: 10 MORE CLASSIC ROCK TUNES FOR RIDING PT I

We love rock ‘n’ roll as much as we love motorcycles and there are just too many songs out there that we love to listen to during our road trips. We’ve presented ten previously and here’s another ten.

But instead of counting down as we previously did, we decided to just list the songs. Personal tastes are subjective, after all.

ROCK HARD, RIDE FREE BY JUDAS PRIEST

Judas Priest makes this list again. Since Rob Halford is well-known for his love for cars and motorcycles, it’s only natural that he writes many songs alluding to the art of speed.

“Tough as steel, stop at nothing’, look at fate in the face, don’t take no for an answer, grab the lead in the race,” sings Halford.

On a deeper note, Rock Hard, Ride Free is a message to live life to the fullest. What better way to do that than on a motorcycle?

RIDE THE WIND BY POISON

Poison’s Bret Michaels may have always been called the pretty boy of glam rock but Ride the Wind is a great tune, nonetheless.

While the band didn’t ascribe to the reason behind the lyrics, it’s widely thought that Michaels had started riding motorcycles, particularly Harleys, at this time. He didn’t waste time, starting immediately with, “Hearts of fire, streets of stone, modern warriors, saddle iron horses of chrome.”

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE BY BON JOVI

Bon Jovi and his band attributes the song to their touring (as in concerts) experience, specifically. But the song’s lyrics never fails to conjure up the image of a motorcycle rider who drifts riding from town to town, looking to find himself.

“I’m a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride, I’m wanted dead or alive.”

The song finds great popularity among movie producers and was included in a host of movies, such as Harley-Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991) and again in Wild Hogs (2007).

RIDE TO LIVE, LIVE TO RIDE BY TWISTED SISTER

“You’ve got to ride to live, live to ride, feel the flames burn inside…”

If you’ve seen Dee Snider in the video of their biggest hit, I Wanna Rock, dressed in drags, fishnets and lingerie with thick makeup, you’d probably not believe it’s same the band that actually wrote this song. Heck, Snider may be the only man alive who could dress so and look cool on his bike!

IRON HORSE/BORN TO LOSE BY MOTÖRHEAD

Motörhead’s frontman, Lemmy, dedicated this song to the Hell’s Angels, who volunteered themselves as the band’s unofficial bodyguards. (Don’t expect them to escort Justin Bieber.)

The words “On iron horse he flies, on iron horse he dies” immortalizes this song as one for the diehard biker.
