Motorcycle Auction in Vegas

Upcoming is a huge motorcycle auction that will be held in Vegas!

The temperature in Vegas right now might get as low as 3 degrees Celsius but this motorcycle auction will definitely fire up the streets of Las Vegas. Mecum and Bonhams; two of the biggest auction companies in the US and UK are putting 1,836 bikes up for grabs in the South Point Casino and Rio All-Suite Casino.

One of the things that people love most about auctions is the historical aspect they bring to the table. That love alone could be rounded off to $1,716,275 between Mecum and Bonhams. One of the star bikes under the gavel for Bonhams is the 1951 Vincent Black Lightning with full race history along with Italian Grand Prix jewellery straight from Jack Silverman’s collection. The Bonhams will also be auctioning off a beautiful classic piece like The Flying Merkel and have sold Steve McQueen’s 1912 Harley X8E for $82,000. Ewan McGregor’s 2012 Indian Larry Panhead for $25,000. And “Joe Dirt 2”’s 1974 Honda CB750 chopper for $3,500.

Mecum’s auction warehouse may not be as calm or British-styled but the South Point Casino had multi-level entertainment facilities and both offered roughly the same bikes in total for this event. Mecum is auctioning off the Excelsior-Henderson brand that started in early 1912; Excelsior was growing very rapidly in Chicago but they lacked the four-cylinder model. Then later in 1917, German bicycle maker added the Henderson marque to combine the two companies. They were one of the Big Three American motorcycle makers and is being auctioned at the Mecum auction.
