Why Racers Love the BMW RR

The BMW S 1000 RR or simply, the RR (Race Replica) was a revolution in sport super bikes and continues to bring a lot of joy to motor bike racing. BMW riders all over the world have rode them to race wins, podiums and titles.

Here are some of the best experiences on the RR as told by BMW racers.

Michal Prášek (Alpe Adria Road Racing Championship (AARR STK) ), 2015-2016
Together with the Rohac and Feijta motor racing team, Prášek won the titles in the Superstock class of the AARR STK in 2015 and 2016. This was made all the more remarkable when in 2014, a crash in Brno caused serious injuries to his legs and lungs, casting doubt on his racing career. He said:

“Winning the title the year after that crash, in 2015, was definitely one of the best moments of my racing career. We wanted to win the title again in 2016, and we did just that. It was awesome.”

Lukáš Pešek, FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC), 2016
The Czech mentions his experience when he finished third to take his place on the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) podium with Penz13.com BMW Motorrad at the 8 Hours of Oschersleben. Pešek: “That was my first podium ever in the Endurance World Championship, and was simply magical!”

Kenny Foray, FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC), 2016
Foray finished runner-up in the French Superbike Championship (FSBK) with the Tecmas Racing Team and raced alongside Pešek on the number 13 BMW S 1000 RR in the EWC, said: “One (moment) was really rather special, though: that came in qualifying for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the EWC,” the Frenchman recalled.

“The previous day we had sat down with the engineers and tried to come up with a good set-up for qualifying. After the first qualifying session, our team-mate Mathieu Gines returned to the garage and said: ‘Wow, the bike is incredible.’ When I then took to the track I just felt: wow, wow, wow. We were both only able to complete three laps, as you are only allowed one set of tyres for all three riders in qualifying, but it was an unbelievable feeling. I wanted that moment to last for ever, because it was really very special. When I returned to the pits I had a big grin on my face. Then we secured pole position. That was fantastic.”
